Santorum Fails on Jobs Numbers

Statements like these make me wonder how anyone can seriously support Rick Santorum for running for dog-catcher, let alone President of the United States.

First, there are just over 300 million Americans. If Obama had actually created 240 million jobs, I don't think any Republicans would bother running against him because that would mean that over 80% of Americans would be employed including children. Keep in mind that CNN's Ali Velshi asked santorum to restate that, so Santorum had the opportunity to correct himself, but he stuck to those numbers.

Second, this discrepancy that Santorum said exists between whether it was 280 million or 240 million jobs created is something Santorum is claiming as a jobs loss. Ali Velshi explains how that is categorically false. Whether it was 280 or 240 millions jobs created, they were jobs created. Apparently, math is not Santorum's strong suit.

I had zero respect for Santorum before this (I know, I know, that's difficult to believe). He is one of the most anti-gay Republicans in this field, which is really saying something. However, this statement has nothing to do with that (per se) and everything to do with how he has no problem purposefully misleading people. He has absolutely no problem outright lying. I guess he skipped the part of the Bible which says, "thou shalt not bare false witness," even being a self-proclaimed social conservative.

His supporters must be Lemmings going straight off of a cliff. It's really sad.
